So I’ve written quite a bit now about the dangers of high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). Apparently there is a new study out that links HFCS and diabetes.
The following blog reports on this study.
Here is the article reported on in the blog.
A lot of it talks about science that I don’t understand, but thats ok. The overall message is that there is more evidence talking about how bad this product is for us. Yes, it’s more economical than sugar, but more dangerous.
The reason it’s more dangerous – it’s man made. The body wasn’t made to handle the biochemical processes that are involved with breaking down HFCS. Yes, we can do it to an extent, but it causes cell damage in the process. This is why more people are promoting a raw food diet. I’m not saying I could ever do it, but on some level it makes sense (as long as you really know what you are doing and making sure you get in all the amino acids you need).
A good rule of thumb too…always read the ingredients label on any food you buy. As a Muslim, I grew up learning to read labels; always on the lookout for lard or ‘animal fats’ used in cooking. I couldn’t even eat Oreos for the longest time. Anyhow…if HFCS is in there, don’t buy it. If it’s something you just have to have, try to make sure it’s not in the first three ingredients. Also…if you can’t pronounce something on the ingredient label, maybe it’s not the thing to buy.

Thanks for reading!
You don’t really have to agree with me specifically, but some of the studies coming out now are showing HFCS’ dangerous qualities.

HFCS Should be banned! This crap is scary. I am on a campaign to get it removed or to form a list of things that do NOT contain it. I buy organic as much as possible but with my young’un eating all the time It isn’t always affordable to me on a fixed income.
